Sri Lanka has so much to offer its visitors away from the crease, including spectacular national parks which are famous for their Asian elephants and leopards – the recently reopened Yala National Park is one of the best places in the world to see wild leopards with its high population density.

The six cultural UNESCO World Heritage Sites spotted around the island are must-sees, especially the Sacred City of Kandy where you’ll find the Temple of the Tooth relic, one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world. Also make time to visit the 300m tall ancient rock fortress at Sigiriya, with its water gardens, frescoes, palace and uninterrupted 360 degree view from the top.
